The Lord of Sipan on the big screen

The representative of the Spanish Producer Company Explora Films, José Manuel Novoa, and the discoverer of the Sipán Royal Tomb, the archaeologist Walter Alva, announced that the shooting of the full-length film named "El Señor de Sipán" ("The Lord of Sipán") would begin in the near future, based on all the facts related to one of the most important discoveries of the 20th century.

By: Iván Reyna Ramos

The script, written by the filmmaker José Manuel Novoa and by Walter Alva in charge of the archaeological information, focuses on the parallel stories of the dramatic archaeological discovery made in 1987, the grave plundering, and the traffic of archaeological pieces. Besides, it recreates the Mochica World during the second and third century of our era, when the Lord of Sipán reigned. This movie will have history, adventure and mystery as main ingredients.

The shooting will take place in Lambayeque and it will count on the performances of famous national and regional actors and inhabitants of this area. It is also expected that a Mochica Sanctuary and a settlement be recreated in order to stage with great realism this culture's way of living.

The worldwide release of this film, which is one of the first movies based on an archaeological discovery of international impact, will contribute to the knowledge of ancient Peruvian cultures and to the promotion of our country and its tourist attractions, especially on the new north circuit.
